Share and earn

Share a project, earn up to 18.5%

Every campaign can pay the person who brings it a backer. The creator sets the rate, the contract pays it the moment the pledge lands, and the rate is on every card so you know what a share is worth before you make it.

Up to 18.5% of every pledge your link brings in

When a creator publishes a campaign they choose a rate, from nothing up to 18.5%, that goes to whoever brought them a backer. Share the campaign with your link, and every pledge that arrives through it pays you that rate of the pledge. The money does not pass through us and it does not wait for anyone: the contract pays it to your wallet in the same transaction as the pledge itself.

18.5% is the ceiling the contract enforces, and it is, as far as we know, the most generous affiliate rate on the internet. Most affiliate programmes pay a few percent, weeks later, after a return window. This pays at the moment of the pledge, from money the creator has decided to give up to reach more people.

Where the link is

Open any campaign in the app and tap the link icon at the top, or the Copy link button in the share box on the page. Both give you a link that carries your account. Anyone who opens it and backs the campaign is counted as yours, and the campaign card shows the rate before you open it, so you can see what a share is worth at a glance.

You do not need an audience. One friend who backs a 100 pledge on a campaign paying 10% is 10 in your wallet.

The creator sets the rate, so look at it

Every campaign sets its own, and the starting point is nothing at all. A campaign paying 0% is a campaign whose creator chose to keep every pledge, which is their right; sharing it pays you nothing. A campaign paying 18.5% is a creator who would rather reach ten times the people and give up a share of each pledge to do it. The rate is on the card and on the page, and it is fixed once the campaign is live, so it cannot be lowered after you have shared it.

This is separate from inviting a friend

Inviting someone to CoFunders with your referral code pays you half of our platform fee on everything they ever back, 0.75% of each pledge on the free plan, for as long as they keep backing. Sharing a campaign pays you the creator's rate on that campaign. They stack: a friend you invited who backs a campaign you shared pays you both.

What this is not

It is not income you can plan on. It is a rate on pledges other people decide to make, and nobody can tell you how many that is. The rates come from the contract and are ceilings, not averages.

It is also not a way to pay yourself: a creator sharing their own campaign earns nothing on their own backers, because that cut would leave the escrow before the goal was met, and the whole point of the escrow is that it does not.
