Can you get a refund from crowdfunding?
Short answer
Sometimes, and the honest answer depends entirely on whether the campaign hit its goal. Missed goal: yes, your escrowed pledge, with one tap; the fees paid when you backed are not returned. Reached goal: no, because the money is already with the founder.
Most people asking this have already backed something and are worried. So the short version first: if the campaign you backed has not closed yet and has not reached its target, your money is still in escrow and comes back to you if the deadline passes without the goal being met.
If it did reach the goal, the money went to the founder to build the thing you backed. It is not a purchase with a returns policy and there is no chargeback, because nothing was sold to you. Reward crowdfunding is closer to commissioning something than to buying it: you funded an attempt, and attempts can fail even when everybody involved is honest and working hard.
That is the part platforms tend to soften and it is the part worth being blunt about. A creator who takes funded money and then delivers late, delivers something worse than promised, or gives up, has broken an obligation to you, and you have whatever recourse the law gives you against them. What you do not have is a button on our side that reverses it, because we do not hold the money any more.
Which is the argument for backing amounts you can afford to lose, and for reading what a founder has actually committed to before the goal is reached rather than after.
