Answer
What happens to your money if CoFunders shuts down?
Short answer
Pledges are not held by us, so there is nothing of yours on our balance sheet to be lost, frozen or distributed to creditors. They sit in an account controlled by a program on a public network, and the rules that release them keep working whether or not this company does.
On a conventional platform this question has an uncomfortable answer. Money in flight sits in the company's payment account, and if the company fails that money is an asset in an insolvency — which means a queue, administrators, and a length of time measured in months. It is rarely disclosed because it rarely comes up, and it is exactly the scenario where disclosure would have mattered.
Here the pledges are held by a program-derived account on Solana. We do not have its keys; nobody does, because it is controlled by code rather than by a signature. The two instructions that can move funds are the refund, which any backer can call while the goal is unmet, and the payout, which the creator can call once it is met. Neither of them checks whether our servers are running.
The honest caveat is about convenience rather than custody. If this site disappeared tomorrow, the money would still be governed by the same rules, but the friendly button that constructs the transaction would be gone — recovering a pledge would mean interacting with the program directly, which is a technical exercise. The funds would be yours and reachable; they would not be reachable in two taps.
This is also why the transparency page publishes addresses rather than assurances. The claim is not that we are trustworthy enough to hold your money safely; it is that we are not holding it, and you can confirm that yourself without asking us.
