Campaigns run in USDC, and you see the amount in your own currency

Every campaign is denominated in USDC. Amounts appear in the currency you choose, and the 10 USDC minimum is rounded up so a pledge always clears it.

By CoFundersPublished Updated

CoFunders settles in one stablecoin. A campaign's goal, the pledges against it and the fees are all denominated in USDC, a token designed to stay at one dollar. EURC is no longer a campaign currency.

That is a decision about the plumbing, not about what you read. Amounts are shown in the currency you pick, and the conversion happens wherever a figure appears rather than only at the moment you pay.

One currency underneath, your currency on screen

Running on a single stablecoin removes a class of confusion that had no upside. A campaign could previously accept one token while a backer thought in another, and a goal typed in euros had to mean two different things depending on which token the founder chose.

With one settlement currency, the display currency becomes a setting rather than a consequence. Choose the one you think in, and every screen follows it.

Why the minimum is rounded up

The smallest pledge the contract accepts is 10 USDC. That is not a setting on a server: it is a constant compiled into the on-chain program and checked when a contribution is made, so changing it means upgrading the program.

A converted figure that rounds down would sit just under the limit and be refused by the contract after you had already decided to pay. So the minimum shown in your currency is rounded up, and a pledge at the number on screen always clears.

What this does not change

  • A pledge sits in an escrow account the program controls, not in a CoFunders account. Under the program's rules only the creator can claim a campaign that met its goal, and only you can take back a pledge from one that missed. The program can still be upgraded, and today one key held by CoFunders has that power (see /security).
  • If the goal is not met by the deadline, you take your pledge back from escrow with one tap, and nobody has to approve it. What comes back is the amount held for you: your pledge minus the fees taken when you backed (the platform fee, the flat fee, any tip and any share reward the campaign pays).
  • No plan, perk or referral combination can take the platform fee below the floor the program asserts at compile time.
