CoFunders, not cofounders
No cofounder yet? Start with your cofunders
Looking for cofounders? This is CoFunders, without the o: reward crowdfunding, where the people who back a project fund it together, before it exists. We don't match cofounders. We help you start without one. Start your campaign, free to write.
Key facts
- CoFunders is co plus funders: the people who fund a project together.
- It's reward crowdfunding. Backers get the reward a creator offers, never a share of the company.
- We don't match cofounders. The lessons and the calculator below show where to look for one, and how to split a company fairly.
- A campaign here can pay for a first version before anyone joins you.
What does the name CoFunders mean?
CoFunders means co plus funders: everyone who backs a project, together. A campaign isn't paid for by one person but by all its backers, each pledge waiting in the same escrow. The co is the co in coauthor. The name is one letter away from cofounders, but backing a campaign never makes anyone part of your company.
Being a cofunder is closer to being early to something than to being a customer. You pay ahead of time so it can be made, and you share the risk that it never is. That risk is why the reward exists, and why the rule that releases the money is part of the program, not a policy.

Can CoFunders help you find a cofounder?
No. We don't introduce people who want to start a company together. Services that do exist, and they're a different product.
What we can do is help you start without one, and get ready for the day someone joins. Four free pages for that:

Why start with backers before a cofounder?
Because people who pay for a first version before it exists are the strongest proof an idea can have, and proof is what a good cofounder asks to see. A reward campaign gets you that proof and the money to build it, and you give away none of your company.
On CoFunders you publish when you're ready, with no application and no approval queue. You can set a share reward of up to 18.5% of each pledge, paid to whoever shared the link that brought a backer in, so the people who believe in your idea help it travel.
If your campaign misses its goal, this is what each backer reads:
If the goal isn't met by the deadline, you take your pledge back from escrow with one tap, and nobody has to approve it. What comes back is the amount held for you: your pledge minus the fees taken when you backed (the platform fee, the flat fee, any tip and any share reward the campaign pays).
