Raising money
How do you share your crowdfunding campaign?
Start with the people who already know you, on launch day, with a personal message instead of a broadcast. Early pledges make strangers take a campaign seriously. Then keep posting real updates, and let the people who like your project share it for you.
Who should you tell first?
Friends, family, colleagues and anyone who has followed your work. Write to each person, not to a list: say what you're making, what they'd get, and send the link. A message that sounds like you gets read.
Line them up before launch day. The first days bring most of the attention, and a campaign that starts with a few pledges looks alive.
What should you post while it runs?
Updates with something new in them: a photo from the workshop, a problem you solved, a step you passed. Say how close you are to the goal and what comes next. An honest update is the best reason anyone has to share.
Your campaign's plain link works anywhere: your email list, group chats, your bio. Skip the countdowns and the pressure. People share what they like, not what they're pushed into.
What if the campaign goes quiet?
The middle of a campaign is usually slow. Use it to reach new groups: a local paper, a club, a community of people who'd use what you make.
Near the deadline, write again to everyone who said "later". That's when many of them back.
Your next step
Write 3 personal messages today, to people who'd really want this. Then see how sharing works for your backers.
