Referral earnings simulator: every way to get paid on CoFunders in a year
How much could sharing and inviting add up to? Nobody can promise a number, because almost every line pays for something other people choose to do. This chart adds up every way to get paid here, month by month for a year from a small balance, at ordinary figures named above it. A switch shows the most the rules allow, and you can switch off any line.
Every way at once, as a chart
Drawn from these, which you can change:
- 3 people you invited, all of them backing projects
- $25 backed by each of them, every month
- $50 in pledges through your links, every month
- 1% share reward on those pledges, set by each creator
These are ordinary figures, not a forecast or a ceiling. Every line pays for something other people choose to do, so what you get depends on them, not on this chart.

Each line, and what it asks of you
When someone you invited backs a project, half our fee on that pledge is yours. You get it for as long as they keep backing. If they never back anything, this line stays at zero.
Share a link to any campaign. If a pledge comes through your link, the creator pays you a share they chose. Each campaign sets its own, starting at nothing, so the chart assumes 1% until you show the ceiling. The contract lets no creator go above 18.5%.
On top of the split above, you keep a tenth of all the fee revenue the people you invited generate, for as long as they keep generating it.
Counted per person. Each time someone you invited passes another revenue step, you're paid again, with no ceiling.
A bonus each time the total revenue from everyone you invited passes a milestone. Each one pays once.
Tell us what went wrong during the beta. We pay for the reports we accept, up to a fixed number of places, and a person decides which.
Finish 6 steps, and have 10 people you invited finish theirs. A person checks it and pays once. We can refuse it for any reason, including a video that doesn't meet our standards.
Rates come from the code that pays them, as everywhere on this page: the contract for half our fee and a campaign's share, the app for the rest.
How this is calculated
From a small balance, the chart adds each line month by month for 12 months. It draws only what the app offers, at the rate the code that pays it uses:
- Friends you invite: what they back each month, times 0.75%, half of the 1.5% fee on their pledges.
- Campaigns you share: the pledges your links bring in each month, times the share reward rate the creator chose, capped by the contract at 18.5%.
- The continuing share: 10% of the fee revenue your invitees generate.
- The repeating band: 20 each time one person you invited generates another 50 of revenue, counted per person, so a band nobody crossed is never paid.
- The milestones: bonuses, each paid once, as the revenue from your invites passes each threshold.
- A beta report and the onboarding reward: fixed amounts, each paid once after a person reviews your claim, drawn as one step.
Four assumptions drive those lines, named above the chart: how many people you invite, what each backs in a month, what your links bring in and the share reward rate a creator pays. The switch sets them to the most the rules allow, the rate at its ceiling of 18.5%, and says it's a ceiling, not a forecast. A line you switch off leaves the total too.
A link keeps the switch and the lines you switched off, never the numbers, so a shared view shows the page's own figures.
What it doesn't know
- Other people. Almost every line pays for something other people choose to do: back a project, pledge through your link, keep using the app. No one, us included, can say how much that will be.
- Reviews. A person reviews the milestones, the band, the beta reward and the onboarding reward, and can refuse a claim.
- Your currency. Amounts show in your own currency. Rewards are nominal: the same number in any currency, never converted.
- Tomorrow's rates. Every rate is the one the code uses today, and rates can change. Every way to get paid has the current rules.
It's not income you can plan on. Backing a campaign isn't an investment either, as whether reward crowdfunding is an investment explains.
Questions
How much can you earn by sharing and inviting?
Nobody can say, us included: almost every line pays for something other people choose to do, like backing a project through your link. The simulator shows ordinary figures and, with the switch, the most the rules allow. Neither is a figure to plan on.
Is the simulator a forecast of what you'll earn?
No. It opens at ordinary figures, named above the chart, and the switch shows the ceiling the rules allow. A forecast would have to know what other people will do, and no one can know that.
Does money left in your balance earn anything?
No. Your balance earns nothing here: every line in the chart pays for something done.
