Crowdfunding escrow checker: see where a CoFunders campaign's money is

See for yourself where a CoFunders campaign's money is. Paste its escrow link, address or number, and the checker reads the chain live: what the campaign and its vault hold, where it stands and who can change the program that holds it all.

Check a campaign's escrow

The program that holds every pledge

Reading the chain…

Check one campaign

In the app, open the campaign, then Financials and protection, and copy the "See where the money is held" link. Paste it here, or the address it shows, or the campaign's number on chain.

How this is checked

Nothing here comes from our database. This site's server reads the chain directly, and only reads: it never signs anything or sends a transaction. You see what any public explorer shows for the same accounts, in one place and in words. Every address links to Solana Explorer, so you can check it yourself.

The program. The code that holds every pledge. The checker reads the network's record for it: whether it can still be replaced, and by which key. It also reads the platform's settings account: the admin key, where our fees go and how many campaigns have ever been opened.

A campaign. An address is a CoFunders campaign only when three things hold: the program owns the account, its data has the campaign layout, and the program's own derivation from the campaign's number gives back the same address. Anything else is named for what it is: a wallet, a token account, a program or another of the program's accounts.

The vault. Each campaign keeps its money in a token account it owns. The checker reads that balance directly instead of trusting the campaign's own count, and says whether they agree. The vault should hold what was raised, less what the creator has claimed.

Where it stands. The creator can claim as soon as what was raised reaches the goal, deadline or not. Backers can take their pledges back once the deadline passes with the goal missed. The checker reads the deadline against the network's own clock, the one the program uses. What was raised counts each pledge after its fees, as the goal does.

Who can move the money:

Your pledge sits in an escrow account the program controls, not in a CoFunders account. Under the program's rules, only the creator can claim a campaign's funds once it reaches its goal, and only you can take your pledge back if it misses. The program can still be upgraded, and today one key we hold can upgrade it (see /security).

If the goal isn't met by the deadline, you take your pledge back from escrow with one tap, and nobody has to approve it. What comes back is the amount held for you: your pledge minus the fees taken when you backed (the platform fee, the flat fee, any tip and any share reward the campaign pays).

The app doesn't let you take a pledge back before the deadline.

Campaign readings are cached for a few seconds, the program's for 5 minutes. Each result shows when it was read.

What it doesn't know

  • The app's own campaign ID. A campaign link in the app carries an ID from our database, which the chain has never seen. The checker doesn't translate it: a check like this shouldn't rely on our database. The campaign's page links its escrow record under Financials and protection, and that link works here.
  • Whether the creator will deliver. The escrow decides who can take the money out, and when. It can't tell you whether a reward will ever arrive. What escrow means in crowdfunding explains what it covers and what it doesn't.
  • Other platforms. It reads CoFunders campaigns only. How Kickstarter, Indiegogo and the others hold pledges is in the comparison.
  • Test networks. It reads mainnet, where real money moves, and refuses a link to a test network.
  • Who holds a key. It shows which key can change the program. The chain only shows the key. That it's ours comes from our own records, on the security page.
  • Pledges still arriving. A pledge counts once the network confirms it. Until then, it's not in the figures.

Questions

How can you check where a crowdfunding pledge is held?

Paste the campaign's escrow link, address or number here. The checker reads the chain directly and shows the vault's balance, what the campaign raised, its deadline and which key can change the program that holds it.

Who can move the money in a CoFunders campaign?

Your pledge sits in an escrow account the program controls, not in a CoFunders account. Under the program's rules, only the creator can claim a campaign's funds once it reaches its goal, and only you can take your pledge back if it misses. The program can still be upgraded, and today one key we hold can upgrade it (see /security).

The checker reads that key from the chain, so you can see it for yourself.

What does the escrow protect you from?

A creator spending the money before the goal is met. It can't protect you from a creator who reaches the goal and then doesn't deliver, and what escrow means in crowdfunding explains the difference.

Does the checker need an account or a wallet?

No. It only reads public accounts on the network. It never signs anything or sends a transaction.
