For creators
Can you crowdfund on two platforms at the same time?
Yes. Nothing here stops you running a campaign on another platform too. Here, you set a reward for whoever shares yours, paid on every pledge they bring.
Short answer
Yes. Nothing in our terms stops you running the same project on another platform at the same time. The two campaigns are separate: each has its own goal, its own backers and its own rules. What a campaign here adds is a share reward. You set the rate, and whoever shares your campaign earns it on every pledge their link brings, paid by the contract in the pledge's own transaction.
Key facts
- Nothing in our terms asks for a campaign to be here only.
- Each platform counts its own pledges toward its own goal. The two totals aren't added together.
- The other platform has rules of its own, so read them before you launch.
- Here, you choose a share reward from nothing up to 18.5% of each pledge a share link brings.
- Publishing here costs $5 on the free plan, with no application and no approval queue.
Can you run the same project on two platforms?
Yes, as far as we're concerned. We don't ask whether your project raises money anywhere else, and nothing in our terms asks for it to be here only. What the terms do ask is that a campaign doesn't misrepresent anything material, so say on each page that you're raising in two places, and how the two fit together.
The other platform sets its own rules, and they're its to set. Read them before you launch in both places.
How do two campaigns count toward your goal?
Separately. Each platform holds its own pledges and checks them against its own goal. A pledge there doesn't count toward your goal here, and a pledge here doesn't count there.
Here it's all or nothing. You can claim the funds only once the amount raised here reaches the goal you set here. If the deadline passes first, your backers here can take back what the escrow holds for them, and this campaign pays you nothing.
So set each goal at what that campaign alone has to raise, or split the project so each goal stands on its own. The goal planner works out the goal to set once every fee and reward is paid.
How does sharing pay here?
When you publish, you set a share reward: any rate from nothing up to 18.5% of each pledge. Anyone can share a link to your campaign tied to their account. When a pledge comes through it, the contract pays them your rate out of that pledge, in the same transaction. Nobody approves it and nobody pays it by hand.
Your rate shows on your campaign before anyone opens it, and it's fixed once you're live, so the people who share it know what they earn. It comes out of the pledge, not on top of what the backer pays, and the contract refuses it on a link you share yourself.
That's why the people who see your campaign have a reason to pass it on: every pledge they bring pays them your rate. How sharing a campaign pays you has the detail, and how to share your campaign is the lesson on doing it well.
What does a campaign here cost?
$5 to publish on the free plan, then 1.5% plus a flat $0.99 from each pledge, taken as it's made. Claiming the funds has no fee from us, and a campaign that misses its goal owes us nothing more.
There's no application and no approval queue: sign in, write it, publish it. Running a crowdfunding campaign covers the goal, the deadline and tax, the creator's page has every fee, and every answer is listed in one place.
