How does crypto crowdfunding on Solana work on CoFunders?
Every CoFunders campaign runs on Solana in USDC, with pledges in an escrow the program controls. Send USDC to your address and back or launch a campaign.
Short answer
CoFunders is crowdfunding built on Solana. Every campaign takes pledges in USDC, every pledge waits in escrow on chain until the deadline, and anyone can check it. Sign up with email or Google and you get your own Solana address: send USDC to it from any wallet or exchange and you can back or launch a campaign. You never need a gas token for network fees.
Key facts
- Network: Solana mainnet. Currency: USDC.
- Each account has its own Solana address, and you can export its key.
- Pledges wait in escrow on chain, open for anyone to check.
- No gas token needed: the network fee comes out of your USDC.
- A direct USDC transfer in costs nothing from us. A balance left in your account pays a holding cost of 0.01% a week (pricing).
- Reward crowdfunding only: backers get a product or a perk, never a token or a return.
How do you fund your account?
- Sign up in the app with email or Google. Your Solana address is created with the account.
- Copy it: Portfolio, Add money, Direct transfer, or Copy address on your profile.
- From your wallet or exchange, send USDC on Solana to that address.
- It shows in your History as Money added, usually within a minute.
USDC only
The app counts USDC only. Any other token sent to your address, Solana's own included, doesn't show in your balance and can't back a campaign. Moving it again means exporting your key into another wallet. USDC sent on another network does not arrive at all.
No USDC yet? Deposit with 0% card fees shows the exchange route, and adding money covers paying by card. Why a dollar stablecoin? What a stablecoin is, from the free course.
Where does a pledge go?
Your pledge sits in an escrow account the program controls, not in a CoFunders account. Under the program's rules, only the creator can claim a campaign's funds once it reaches its goal, and only you can take your pledge back if it misses. The program can still be upgraded, and today one key we hold can upgrade it (see /security).
If the goal isn't met by the deadline, you take your pledge back from escrow with one tap, and nobody has to approve it. What comes back is the amount held for you: your pledge minus the fees taken when you backed (the platform fee, the flat fee, any tip and any share reward the campaign pays).
Every campaign's escrow is a public account. The escrow checker reads what one holds straight from Solana, without asking us.
Do you need a gas token for network fees?
No. The platform pays the Solana network fee for each transaction, and you repay it in USDC inside that same transaction. Every screen that sends money shows the fee before you confirm. Your account never has to hold anything but USDC.
How do you raise money in USDC?
- Create a campaign in the app: the story, a goal, a deadline and the rewards.
- Launch it. Opening a campaign costs $5 on the free plan.
- Backers pledge in USDC, from their balance or by card.
- If the goal is reached by the deadline, you claim the funds to your own address. Nobody else can.
Each pledge pays 1.5% plus a flat $0.99, taken from the pledge. The percentage fee on a pledge follows the plan of the account making it. It's taken when the pledge is made, so it isn't returned if the campaign misses its goal. Paid plans aren't on sale today, so the published fee is the free plan's fee.
You can also pay a share reward, up to 18.5% of each pledge, to whoever brought the backer. The program pays it, so sharers get paid without trusting you or us.
How do you cash out?
You can send your stablecoin to any address you choose. The network fee comes out of your balance, and you see it before you confirm. Selling it for your local currency, to a card or a bank account, happens on a licensed provider's own screen, which verifies you and sets its own fee. The app offers that only where it's available.
To move everything somewhere else, export your key from your profile and import it into any Solana wallet.
Can you sell a token or offer returns?
No. CoFunders runs reward crowdfunding: backers get a product or a perk. A campaign can't sell a token, a share or a promise of returns. Running a campaign covers what a campaign can offer.
What should you check before you trust it?
- The program address is public: read it on Solana Explorer.
- Who can upgrade the program, and what that could change: security names the key.
- Any campaign's escrow balance can be checked with the escrow checker.
